Graphic Novelist Rebecca Migdal celebrates the launch of her daily webcomic “Rosetta Stone” (www.rosettastonecomic.com) with a screening of animated video readings including “Confessions of a Horny and Slightly Mad Cartoonist,” as part of GonzoQuest’s Final Fridays Open Mike Night, on Friday, April 24th at 8pm, Paper City Studios, 80 Race Street, in Holyoke.
Rosetta Stone is a singer and artist who is pursued by supernatural beings. The strange occurrences begin with a bizarre dream she has shortly after the death of her eldest sister. Rosetta’s adventures are intertwined with those of Nurdt Nobrain the Zombie Punk rocker, whose succubus of a ghost haunts her; and Cock Robin, a fertility deity whose intentions are anything but honorable. Meanwhile Rosetta’s guitar-god husband Enoch is annoyed by his wife’s sudden need for comfort and affection. He thinks she’s lost her mind–but has she?
The Final Fridays Open Mike additionally features performance poets, artists with slideshows, and musicians, and intersperses movements of Dada artist Kurt Schwitters’s classic “Sonata In Primeval Sounds” performed by Andy Laties, Rebecca Migdal and drummer Eric Blitz: open mike sign-up is at 7:30pm.
