The Hungry March Band gave a fanfare for the season’s kickoff of landmark amusments like the Wonder Wheel, that still struggle on at the Coney Island, despite developers moving in to destroy this classic resort.

Well, though we failed to locate the world’s largest garden gnome (see below) at Hudson River Park on Sunday, in our travels we happened upon a Tom Otterness sculpture garden. It’s actually a small playground (Rockefeller Park) in Battery Park City, just overlooking what used to be Pier 25. Yippee Skippy!
